Resource Provisioning and Allocation in Function-as-a-Service Edge-Clouds

Edge computing has emerged as a new paradigm to bring cloud applications closer users for increased performance. Unlike back-end systems which consolidate their resources in centralized data center location with virtually unlimited capacity, edge-clouds comprise distributed at various “computation spots”, each very limited capacity. In this article, we consider Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) where application providers deploy latency-critical functions process user requests strict response time deadlines. setting, investigate the problem of xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">resource provisioning and xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">allocation . After formulating optimal solution, propose resource allocation provisioning algorithms across spectrum fully-centralized fully-decentralized. We evaluate performance these terms ability utilize CPU meet request deadlines under system parameters. Our results indicate that practical decentralized strategies, require no coordination among computation spots, achieve is close strategy overheads.
